Thanks for reaching out! I have one account that is stuck in a glitch, over 70, followers, so I had opened another account about a year ago just in case, and would like to merge the glitched account to the new fully functioning account.
Thanks for reaching out, Gloria. What a great post thanks, just what I was looking for — and I found you on the first page of Google. Jeffrey Toale not sure if you fixed it but just change the one with good name to something else, temporarily. Then change the one with bad name to the good name. Rename the account you changed in yhe 1st step to the bad name just in case people have the bad name account bookmarked. Then do as the article says and post an alert and link to the good account.
Thanks heaps for this guide. Regardless, we will test your steps and hopefully achieve a smooth transition.

Take care! Sarah Elson Reply October 19th, Jeffrey Toale Reply October 25th, Cynthia Marose Reply June 23rd, Personal web presence is increasingly crucial in our current digital world. It should come as no surprise then that the username you choose for social accounts, like Twitter, is more improtant than ever.
As with all things, change is inevitable, so if you decide for whatever reason to change your Twitter name , you should be able to do so with losing your web identity. Reasons can be numerous, maybe you originally had separate personal and business Twitter accounts and wish to merge them , or perhaps you changed your business name, or are the type of person that just likes to change things up.
No big deal…it turns out you can do exactly that following just a few simple steps. Your twitter name is now changed, all followers are retained…too easy? Not so fast, as cautioned by this note from Twitter help center :.
Your followers will simply see a new username next to your profile photo when you update. However, you're also unable to copy across the list of people you follow on one account and automatically follow them on another account. Similarly, you cannot automatically take tweets you've made on one account and add them as tweets, new or old, on the other account.
To replicate the effects of merging two accounts, encourage users on one account to follow you on the other account. You can do this simply by posting tweets with the details of your other account; you can give a deadline for when you'll stop using the first account.
Think carefully when deciding when and how often to post such tweets. You need to post the request enough times that people who don't check Twitter constantly have a good chance of seeing it, and take into account that people in different time zones or with different daily schedules tend to check Twitter at different times. However, avoid posting the request too many times as you could annoy some users who see the message repeatedly.
Once you're happy you have gotten as many followers as possible to follow you on the new account, you must decide whether to leave the old account inactive or deactivate it. Inactive simply means you don't post to it any more. If you choose this option, consider checking the account occasionally to see if you have any direct messages or replies from people who aren't aware you've stopped using the account.
Deactivated means you've formally closed the account.
