Is Oregon better than Washington or the other way around? We work with tons of clients all over the United States, and we absolutely love being able to provide tangible information so that our clients can get exactly what they want. We think that Southwest Washington has a lot to provide for the people that come to us for help on their home purchases. Many of the shops, restaurants, and bars, have the same sort of vibe as the Portland scene; unique, quirky and homey.
The new pier hosts some amazing new restaurants, affordable waterfront condos, and hotels—each of which perpetuates the awesome, modern architectural layout and overall design of the area. Because Portland is a more developed city, the skyline makes for an ideal view. The new waterfront real estate available in Vancouver really is a must-see. It also makes it easy to generate a bit of side income if you want to rent out your place as a vacation unit.
Washington state has no income tax, but there is sales tax. Portland has no sales tax, but they do have an income tax. So, regardless of where you live, Portland is a great place to do your grocery shopping.
So, you do get a lot more bang for your buck when it comes to real estate in Vancouver, Washington. The Oregon Ducks were expected to win this one, and so far that's exactly how it's playing out.
They have emerged as the frontrunner after three quarters and are ahead of the Washington State Cougars QB Anthony Brown has led the way so far for the Ducks, as he has passed for one TD and yards on 19 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and yards.
Oregon has been led by Brown, who so far has passed for one TD and yards on 19 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and yards.
Oregon and Washington State came into this contest with previous-game wins. It's looking like Oregon will be able to keep the momentum, but Washington State still has a quarter to right the ship. The Washington State Cougars have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field.
Washington State and the Oregon Ducks will face off in a Pac battle at p. Rainier you can see from Seattle, but they also have Mt. Saint Helens. That mountain hated living in Washington so much it blew its top off back in Oregon has Mt. Hood where locals and visitors alike can ski and snowboard year round.
Lakes: Crater Lake tops anything Washington has. Washington may be home to over 8, lakes, but not one of them comes anywhere close to matching the natural beauty of Crater Lake National Park. Your time has passed, Washington. But grunge is long gone. What do you have now? I guess. Oregon beaches are open to the public by law, which means our beautiful coast line belongs to Oregonians and all are welcome.
Head north to Washington and the coast line is a myriad of public and private beaches, meaning there are places on the coast in Washington that you simply aren't allowed to go. In fact, 60 to 70 percent of Washington's tidelands are in private hands which only leaves about 30 percent open to the public. What a bummer.
Portland has set the bar for what coffee culture in America should look like with local roasters who have hit the big time, like Stumptown. But hitting the big time hasn't deterred others from keeping the city supplied with some of the best coffee in the world. Seattle and Washington gave the world Starbucks. Thanks for the overpriced cup of burnt bean coffee on every street corner, folks!
Oh, and no one is tired of that pumpkin spice latte gimmick. We wouldn't trade Oregon's food scene for Washington's, not in a million years. That's in large part due to Portland, with its wealth of great restaurants, which the Washington Post rightly called the best food city in America. But it's also because of the great coffee, craft beer and Willamette Valley wine, those Chinook salmon swimming in the rivers and the fantastic produce grown on Oregon's many small, family-owned farms.
Still on the fence? Here are more reasons why Oregon's food is better. Seattle has some decent arcades. And plenty of good bars. Even Eugene has an awesome barcade in Level Up.
